India is a large developing country with nearly 700 million rural populations directly depending on climate-sensitive sectors agriculture, forests and fisheries and natural resources such as water, mangroves, coastal zones, grasslands for their subsistence and livelihoods. They are disproportionately affected by environmental degradation with lack of access to water and hygienic environment and availability of affordable energy services.
MACT believes environment and energy are two essential for ensuring sustainable development and hence it is involved in promoting a eco – friendly traditional practices and low cost renewable energy. This is done by creating models, creating awareness and capacity building of the target communities and local panchayat leaders.
