INTRODUCTION
Mary Anne Charity Trust is a non-governmental service organization, which was started in the year 1996. It is registered under the Indian Trust Act. Over the years the organization has grown as a development organization.
MACT has made an impact as an organisation that advocates for human rights especially in the area of environment and health. MACT also strongly believes in protecting the health of the children through its various programs. MACT has partnered with the central and state government’s health departments to address health issues in their target villages.
It is a pioneering organization in Tamil Nadu working for tobacco control among the community. MACT works actively in the advocacy of change in policies related to tobacco, the cause of almost 8-9 lakh deaths in India, each year.
MOBILE APPLICATIONS DEVELOPED BY MACT

Incorporating the benefits that are inherent of the technology, MACT has developed an array of android based applications which unites smartphone users for social development. The following sections describes the applications that have been developed by MACT, the user/device information that it uses and the purpose of the information
Child Rights Monitor App
Child Rights Monitor is a one stop point to Learn and Practice Child Rights. Through CRM, a child or an adult can acquire information related to Children and their rights, request for referral services, get involved in initiatives, learn through E-Learning Courses & Games and most importantly give complaints on any issues related to Child Rights.
The application requests the following permission(s):
android.permission.CAMERA – For the user to capture violation image and send from the app.
android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO – For the user to capture violation details through voice recorder and send from the app.
android.permission.READ_PHONE_STATE –
To read and display android push notifications to user.
To get Network Operator Name, latitude/longitude of current location
android.permission.GET_ACCOUNTS – To display user mail-id in the registration page
Children Against Tobacco (CAT)
MACT also sensitizes children against the ill effects of Tobacco through Children against Tobacco (CAT). This programme aims at making the young minds understand the Tobacco’s ill effects and facilitate an environment where they grow up without falling prey to it. The application facilitates the registration and monitoring processes related to the programme. The application requests the following permission(s):

Green Shadow
It is a platform from MACT which works on community intervention in the protection of existing trees from incessant cutting in the urban settings and in the rural areas, it looks into growing trees. The application creates a space for the tree lovers to come together. The app requests the following permission(s):

android.permission.GET_ACCOUNTS – To display user mail-id in the registration page
Tobacco Monitor
It is an application wherein a person can acquire information about the latest happenings related to tobacco eradications, regulations and cessation and also give complaints on tobacco related violations. The app requests the following permission(s):
android.permission.CAMERA – For the user to capture violation image and send from the app.
android.permission.READ_PHONE_STATE –
To read and display android push notifications to user.
